CIOS Maritime ICT Server

Manage all your vessels computer network services through one single platform, the cornerstone of your onboard ICT network beginning right after the VSAT or FleetBroadBand systems.

CIOS is a Maritime ICT server which is heavily standarized and based on open source technology. Its an Office Server, IT Infrastructure Manager, Network Gateway, Unified Threat Manager, Unified Communications Server or a combination of them all. All services based on the same technology, modular and fully integrated. For the first time you can make your network act as one single unit.

As many shipping companies have come to realize, the central email and data storage solutions onsite are too important to leave to chance, Port-IT engineers have devised a standard ship server that can be customized using various block-modules to the need of the client. CIOS which stands for “Communications Interactive Operations System” provides ICT assuredness to the requirements of Vessel communications, critical documents storage, remote administrative interfacing and direct Fleet BroadBand/ VSAT operations combined with a bi-directional firewall controlling in and out going network traffic. CIOS can optionally be fitted with virtualization to support the email communication suites of many vendors as virtual appliances.

With CIOS we reinvented the way how computer management should be done onboard and that it can be done by every user. The web interface is so intuitive that it is understandable even for moderately technical users.

CIOS is a highly optimized solution for the maritime industry. With the options such as Traffic Shaping to make sure your most critical traffic is served properly, regardless of the network load. If you have more than one satellite connection, CIOS can distribute the network traffic transparently and make sure you are connected even if one connection is down.

CIOS brings the option of easy file sharing. Users can also be granted a own folder for data storage but with the option of size restrictions thus resulting that users will not keep their private data such as movies and music on the vessels network.
As we know by experience that introducing a server on the ships network can lead to problems as crew members will see it as another work computer. CIOS is a headless unit that prevents a user to interact directly with the device. CIOS also comes with an integrated Antivirus & Anti-malware solution for the entire vessels network.

One of the key features that make CIOS unique is that with the Port-IT Maritime Cloud you can take full control of the unit or units. With one easy command you can add a firewall or backup rule and apply it directly to 100 vessels. The options of real-time monitoring of the unit are possible and also monthly reports of data usage, intrusion detection (inbound and outbound) and many more.

Although CIOS can be customized using various block modules you are not charged for activating complementary modules like virtualization or firewall functions. The Port-IT CIOS Standard Ship Server has all options available at delivery and additional support and maintenance programs are subscription based.
