At Sea Japan 2010 “Port-IT Anti-Malware” is launched, a new service for the maritime industry raising the level of computer security protection against malware, spyware and advanced Trojan threats.

In 2009 Port-IT extensively researched virus and malware threats onboard sea vessels and due to this research Port-IT concluded that Antivirus software alone was not sufficient anymore. New developments focussed to create a program that uses the most sophisticated anti-malware techniques to detect and remove malicious programmes from your onboard computers but and be able to be updated via satellite systems and keep airtime costs to a minimum. The software Port-IT uses for its Anti-Malware service is a special version of the Malwarebytes® software developed by Malwarebytes Corporation together with Port-IT. It contains the maritime features needed, complemented with a vessel based licensing system and online client management portal.
The software can detect and remove malware that even the most well known anti-virus and antimalware applications fail to detect. Port-IT Anti-Malware monitors every process and stops malicious processes before they even start.
The Anti-Malware service works in parallel to the Port-IT Anti-Virus solution, complementing the security features this successful service offers. Port-IT’s onsite service engineers have already used the maritime Anti-Virus product in combination with the new Maritime Anti-Malware product on all vessel visits during the last 6 months, improving and testing the product for service usage. Due to this release to the maritime market, shipowners can now benefit from the same software our engineers use to clean and protect vessels.
